Produced in a family factory in Spain, FRĒDA SALVADOR is an artisan line of contemporary, handcrafted, cutting edge footwear that, in my opinion, is some of the most comfortable shoes and boots ever made!
Designers Christina Palomo-Nelson and Megan Papay are the genius behind the brand, and together they have blended their talents and strengths to create the highest quality and most luxurious leather footwear. Their vision is inspired by the daring and self-expressive woman that embraces confidence and exudes casual ease in every aspect of their lives.
In a recent interview with Glitterguide, Megan and Christina talk about their home life, families, and their daily routines and inspiration. When asked for an overview, Megan stated "FREDA SALVADOR is a women’s footwear company that is committed to offering the cool girls an everyday shoe—the one she puts on day-in and day-out to pound the pavement and feel her best. We are obsessed with fit and quality, and try to reinforce the idea that—if properly cared for—our shoes can last (and look even more beautiful) with many years of wear. Describing her go to outfit, she said "Boyfriend jeans, a baggy shirt, statement jewelry and lately, oxfords. This will transition into ankle boots when fall arrives! I also love denim on denim and stealing my husband’s crewneck sweaters—which are mostly J.Crew, circa 1994!" My kind of girl! When asked about how the two friends and business partners divide their workload, Christina said "I feel so blessed everyday that I am able to do what I love and have such an amazing partner to do it with. We balance each other out really well. We are lucky there are two of us to share all the highs and lows. Our tasks are divided pretty naturally based on our strengths and interests. Megan is so creative and has the ability to think so much farther out of the box than anyone I know. She kills it at brainstorming all things marketing and branding related. I focus more on the back end work, like designing our graphics, managing our factory relationships and overseeing other high level operations. When it comes to design we do it together, from conceptualizing and rendering to detailing and fit trials. It’s what we both love most!"
The tiny family factory in Elda, Spain that produces the brand is run by a father, son and two brothers. They are true artisans and so experienced in their craft. Elda is located in the gorgeous region of Alicante, about one hour from Valencia, a region known for it's fabulous food, wine and hospitality.
